GPA Made Simple

Whether you're trying to figure out if you can still get a 3.5 this semester, need to convert your CGPA from one system to another, or simply want a clear picture of where you stand — this calculator handles it all. Pick your grading system, add courses, and get your SGPA, CGPA, percentage, and cross-system equivalents instantly.

How It Works

Each grade carries a point value specific to the system you choose. The calculator multiplies each grade point by the course's credit hours, totals them up, and divides by total credits — giving you a weighted average (your GPA). If you have previous semesters, enter your old GPA and credits to get your cumulative GPA (CGPA). The tool also auto-converts your result into all four other grading systems so you can see where you'd land globally.

Five Grading Systems, One Calculator

  • 4.0 Scale — The most widely used grading scale worldwide. A+ = 4.0, F = 0.0.
  • 10-Point CBCS — A credit-based grading system popular in many universities globally. O = 10, F = 0.
  • Degree Classification — First Class Honours, Upper Second (2:1), Lower Second (2:2), Third Class, and Fail.
  • 1–5 Scale — 1.0 is the highest (excellent); 5.0 is a fail. Used across many universities worldwide.
  • HD–F Scale — High Distinction (HD), Distinction (D), Credit (C), Pass (P), and Fail (F).

SGPA vs CGPA

SGPA (Semester GPA) reflects only the current semester's courses. CGPA (Cumulative GPA) combines all semesters into a single number that represents your overall academic performance. Both are calculated automatically when you enter previous GPA data.

Honest GPA Advice

  • Don't panic over one bad grade — if you ace 4 courses and bomb 1, your GPA takes a hit but it's totally recoverable.
  • Credits matter — a C in a 1-credit lab hurts way less than a C in a 4-credit core course.
  • Aim for consistency — a steady 3.5 beats alternating between 4.0 and 2.5 semesters.
  • Know your targets — most grad schools want 3.0+, competitive programs want 3.5+, and Dean's list is usually 3.7+.
