How the Flashcard Maker Works

Start by creating a named deck for your subject. Add cards one at a time by typing the question or term on the front and the answer or definition on the back. When your deck is ready, click "Study" to begin a flip-to-reveal session. Each card shows the front side first — click to flip and see the answer, then rate yourself as "Got It" or "Needs Review." At the end, you'll see your score and can study again immediately.

Importing Cards from Text

Don't want to type cards one by one? Use the Import feature. Paste text with one card per line, using any of these separators:

• Tab-separated — front[TAB]back (copy from spreadsheets)
• Pipe-separated — front | back
• Double-colon — front :: back

This makes it easy to create large decks from study guides, vocabulary lists, or exported data from other tools.

Effective Flashcard Study Strategies

Flashcards work best with active recall — forcing yourself to retrieve the answer before flipping. Use the shuffle feature to avoid order-dependent memorization. Study in short sessions (15-20 minutes) with breaks in between. Focus extra time on cards you marked as "Needs Review." Revisit decks across multiple days to leverage spaced repetition, which dramatically improves long-term retention.

Managing Your Decks

Create separate decks for different subjects, chapters, or exam topics. All decks are saved automatically to your browser's local storage — no account needed. You can edit cards, remove individual cards, or delete entire decks. Your data stays private on your device and is never uploaded to any server.
