How the Study Timer Works
Enter the subject you're studying, then click Start to begin a focused work session. The circular progress indicator counts down your time. When the session ends, an audio notification plays and the timer automatically switches to a break. After four work sessions, you get a longer break. All study time is logged per subject so you can track where your hours go.
Why the Pomodoro Technique Helps Students
Research shows that focused study intervals with regular breaks improve concentration, reduce mental fatigue, and increase long-term retention. The Pomodoro Technique works because it breaks overwhelming study sessions into manageable chunks. Knowing a break is coming makes it easier to resist distractions during work time. Over time, counting completed sessions builds a sense of accomplishment that motivates continued effort.
Customizing Your Study Sessions
- Work Duration — Start with 25 minutes and adjust based on your attention span. Some students prefer 50-minute blocks for deep study.
- Short Break — 5 minutes is standard. Use it to stretch, hydrate, or look away from your screen.
- Long Break — 15-30 minutes after every 4 sessions. Step away completely to recharge.
- Auto-Start — Enable for uninterrupted flow between sessions and breaks.
Tracking Your Study Progress
The stats panel shows total study time, completed sessions, and subjects tracked. Each subject displays individual time and session counts, sorted by most time spent. Use this data to ensure you're distributing study time across all your courses and to identify subjects that may need more attention. All stats persist in your browser's local storage.
