A Simple, Private Note-Taking Tool
The Scratchpad is a minimalist note-taking application that runs entirely in your browser. Create multiple notes, organize them in a sidebar, and write freely without distractions. Every change is automatically saved to your browser's localStorage, so your notes persist between sessions without any account or cloud service.
How to Use the Scratchpad
Click + New Note to create a note. Select notes from the sidebar to switch between them. Double-click a note's title to rename it. The editor shows live word and character counts at the bottom. When you're done, export any note as a .md or .txt file using the export buttons.
Features
- Multiple notes — organize ideas in separate notes with custom titles
- Markdown support — write with headers, bold, lists, code blocks, and more
- Auto-save — every keystroke is saved automatically to localStorage
- Word & character count — track your writing stats in real time
- Export — download notes as Markdown (.md) or plain text (.txt) files
- Zero tracking — no accounts, no cloud, no analytics
When to Use a Scratchpad
Use the Scratchpad for meeting notes, quick brainstorming sessions, to-do lists, code snippets, journal entries, or any time you need a fast, private place to write. It's lighter than a full note-taking app but more organized than a sticky note.
